CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS                               HEALTH                                                             MS. BAER

Assignments

1.   Homework is due at the beginning of the period.  Late work is ONLY accepted under the following circumstances:

a)   An excused absence.  You will be given an extension equal to the number of days that you were absent.  Please write on late work the days that you were absent.

b)   Extended illness.  Please have your parent/guardian and/or counselor contact me.

2.   You are responsible to collect assignments and handouts that you have missed.  Assignments and copies of handouts will be in the notebook at the front of the room.  Please obtain class notes from one of your classmates.

3.   You are expected to make-up quizzes and tests on the day of your return from an excused absence.

Behavior

No student has the right to disrupt class and deprive others of their education.  Please follow these guidelines for a safe and positive learning environment:

1.      Follow safety guidelines.  Throwing ANYTHING in the classroom will result in any or all of the following:  clean up duty, detention, and referral.

2.      Respect others, self, and property.

3.      Come to class prepared with notebook, paper, pen and/or pencil, and text.

4.      These items are not allowed in the classroom:  food, gum & drinks, electronic devices and cell phones.  They will be confiscated if they are in view or audible and you will receive a detention.  Please remove hats/hoods while in the classroom.

5.      Leave your workspace clean.  This includes the floor, desks, counters and sinks.  Failure to clean up after yourself or defacing school property will result in detentions and/or referrals.

6.      Do your own work.  Cheating will result in a zero grade for that assignment/exam and a referral for suspension.

7.      You are to remain at your seat until the dismissal bell rings.

Attendance/Tardies

Prompt and regular attendance is essential.  You will be marked tardy if you are not in class and ready when the bell rings.  If you are more than 10 minutes late to class, you will be marked absent.  After 3 tardies, you will be required to serve detention.  Each additional tardy will result in a detention.  Detentions not served will result in a referral for Saturday school.  Because tardies are so disruptive to the class, points will be deducted from your participation grade.

Materials:

You are expected to bring a notebook, paper, and pen and/or pencil every day.  It is your responsibility to bring your health notes, current assignments, and current projects to class daily.

You are expected to obtain the Internet sticker on your ID card for research and assignment purposes.  Internet forms are available in the library.

The sign on the classroom window will indicate when you should bring your textbook.

Grading

Grades will be based on the following scale:

100%-90% = A           89%-80% = B             79%-70% = C             69%-60% = D

Grades are calculated from homework and daily assignments, activities, projects, participation, and quizzes & tests.  It is your responsibility to save all of your assignments in your notebook; this is especially important if any grading questions arise.

If special needs arise, please contact me at the earliest time possible.   I can be reached at 744-5000 or jennifer.baer@sps.lane.edu
