Metals Technology
Instructor: David
Hagel
Fee: $5.00 (white shop card purchased at office)
Your attendance and
classroom/lab work are very important parts of the grade you will earn in any
of the classes offered in the technology dept.
One of the goals of the Industrial Technology department is to give
students a work environment that reflects that of industry. Because of this, the following guidelines
have been developed.
ATTENDANCE POLICY AND
CITIZENSHIP
Attendance is very important
to your success in the metals classes.
We teach job attitudes and being here on time is important. The following reflects how you will be
graded on your attendance.
·
Each quarter you may have 2
excused absences, called Sick Days,
without effecting your citizenship grade (Total of 4 for semester).
·
Additional excused absences
can be made up during activity periods.
Absences not made up will result in drop of grade by 1/2 %
·
Each unexcused absence will
result in one (1) detention. Detentions
must be made up within 2 weeks of returning to school.
·
Every 3rd Tardy will also
result in a detention.
·
For each detention that is
not taken care of within the given two
weeks, the student’s grade will drop 5%.
CLEAN-UP
·
Each student will be given a
two-week clean-up assignment. Clean-up
is the last 10 minutes of class.
·
Failure to do clean-up, or poor clean up will effect citizenship
grade.
·
Continual refusal will result
in dismissal from class.
CLASSROOM ASSIGNMENTS
There will be reading
assignments, written assignments, tests, and quizzes throughout the
semester. Points will be awarded for
each assignment and totaled at the end.
Short reports on industrial topics may also be part of the curriculum.
LAB/WORKSHOP POINTS
Lab points are earned on
projects that either you or the instructor have selected and built. Points will be given on each project
depending upon magnitude of the project.
Typically projects will be graded using the following criteria.
·
Accuracy of measurements and
squareness
·
Processes used in
manufacturing
·
Finishing
·
Overall appearance
·
Plans (if developed by
student)
MAKE UP WORK
All work missed because of an
excused absence can be made up within the same number of days missed.
Work missed because of an
unexcused absence or tardy can be made up, but no grade or points can be
earned.
You have only two weeks from
date of an absence to make it excused.
After that time is will remain unexcused.
GRADING SYSTEM
Your grade will be determined
by a combination of 1) Classroom work 2) Attendance /
citizenship 3) Lab/shop grade.
