SELF MANAGEMENT GUIDELINES -
Family & Consumer Studies Department

BE ON TASK:
a. Participate on a daily basis, use class time for assignments.
b. Listen when someone else is talking.
c. Use the appropriate equipment, supplies and work stations.
d. Be ready to work when the bell rings. If you know you will be late, check with me first.BE SELF MOTIVATED:
a. You are responsible for your own work. Hand in papers on time. Papers need to be in my notebook for credit. They should not be left on the table or placed on my desk!
b. Make-up work is located in the file folder for your class, located in the back of the room. A list of assignments and due dates are also posted. It is your responsibility to take care of this. Make-up work is due within the same number of days you miss. If you have any questions, ASK!!!
c. Keep track of assignments, due dates and points. Grading is done on a percentage basis.
d. Keep notes, handouts and past assignments for review and reference purposes. These items are frequently needed for evaluation at the end of the course.BE PREPARED:
a Bring notebook, paper, pencil, blue or black ink pen, books, and supplies to class with you.
b. Be on time!Take care of restroom business, drinks, and snacks before coming to class.
c. Bring admit slips, notes and other paper work to class with you.
d. Complete all assignments. Assignments which have natural deadlines, such as preparing materials for preschool, getting a job plan in, or turning in lab plans must be completed on time in order to receive credit for the assignment.
e. Late assignments are taken only if prior arrangements are made. Arrangements should be put in writing. Make-up work is available in accordance with school policy.BE CONSIDERATE!BE ENTHUSIASTIC:
a. Always do your best!
b. Try it - you may like it!
c. Even if you don’t like it, always do you best - show positive attitude.BE SAFETY CONSCIENCE:
a. Safety rules will be given for each lab situation. You are responsible for knowing and following the rules. Failure to follow safety rules will result in a warning, on the second warning, you will be removed from the lab. Severe breaches can result in immediate removal from class.

1. ATTEND CLASSES DAILY
2. BE ON TIME TO CLASS
3. TAKE NOTES AND TURN IN ON FILMS, CLASS INFORMATION AND GUEST SPEAKERS
4. WORK ON ASSIGNMENTS AND PROJECTS DURING CLASS TIME
5. DO NOT BRING FOOD OR DRINKS TO CLASS
6. LEAVE WALKMANS AND C.D. PLAYERS AT HOME
7. CONDUCT YOURSELF SO THAT YOU DO NOT DISTRACT OTHER STUDENTS
8. COMPLETE ASSIGNMENTS IN NEAT LEGIBLE WRITING
9. TURN ASSIGNMENTS IN ON DUE DATE
10. PLEASE SHOW RESPECT IN YOUR WORDS, BEHAVIOR, AND APPEARANCE WHICH INCLUDE REMOVING YOUR HAT BEFORE ENTERING THE CLASSROOM.


AN ACCUMULATIVE POINT SYSTEM IS USED IN DETERMINING THE LETTER GRADE FOR THE SEMESTER. THE POINTS COME FROM WRITTEN ASSIGNMENTS, TESTS, LAB ACTIVITIES, AND
EMPLOYABILITY ASSESSMENT.
POINTS ARE DEDUCTED FOR UNEXCUSED ABSENCES, TARDIES, DISRESPECTFUL AND UNCOOPERATIVE BEHAVIOR WITH OTHER STUDENTS AS WELL AS THE TEACHER.
TESTS AND QUIZZES ARE GIVEN THROUGHOUT THE SEMESTER. STUDY QUESTIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS ARE GIVEN OVER ALL UNITS. LABS ARE THE APPLICATION OF THE PRINCIPLES BEING STUDIED AND ARE EVALUATED.


EMPLOYABILITY ASSESSMENT: BUSINESSES DESIRE EMPLOYEES WHO ARE PUNCTUAL,
HAVE GOOD ATTENDANCE , AND ARE ABLE TO WORK WELL INDEPENDENTLY. TO ENCOURAGE THESE BEHAVIORS EVERY STUDENT BEGINS WITH AN EMPLOYABILITY SCORE OF 100 POINTS. LOSS OF POINTS OCCURS AS FOLLOWS:

DEDUCTIONS: UNEXCUSED ABSENCE = 10 POINTS
UNEXCUSED TARDY = 5 POINTS (No deduction for first two tardies.)
OFF TASK OR INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR (up to 5 points daily)
