Attendance/Make-up Policy
Spanish I & II: Sr. Nordquist, 2001-2002
Daily practice is the key to successNo make-up for unexcused
absences or tardies as defined in the THS Student Handbook.
Make-up work for excused absences must be completed within a period of
school days equal to the number of school days in any consecutive absence.
Example: Juanito is absent 2 days (Thursday and Friday). Therefore he
has 2 days (Monday and Tuesday) after returning to class to complete any
make-up work. His make-up work would be due on Wednesday.
Make-up work not completed within the allowed time will be penalized 50
percent.
A limited amount of extra-credit may be announced in class
or arranged on an individual basis in order to recover points lost due
to unexcused absences or missed due dates. However, the number and nature
of these assignments are entirely up to the instructors discretion.
Students are required to serve one detention for each unexcused absence
or 3 unexcused tardies. Detentions may be served with me in room 47 (30
minutes: do Spanish homework then wash desks, windows, clean white board,
or in school-wide detention (contact the main office for times and locations).
A list of students with detentions to serve will be posted each Tuesday
in class and parents will be called. Students have one week to serve detentions
or they double. More than four detentions will result in a disciplinary
referral. Unserved detentions at the end of the 9-week period or semester
will result in a grade of Incomplete.
