Course description: This year-long course emphasizes oral proficiency as a means of self-expression and communication with others. Students will use basic vocabulary words in simple sentences within a cultural , geographical and communicative context. Students will begin to acquire the linguistic and cultural equipment they will need to succeed in today’s plaralistic American society.

Grading: A=89.5-100%, B=79.5-89.4%, C=69.5-79.4%, D=59.5-69.4%, NP=below 59.4%. Percentages will be derived from scores in the following areas: Quizzes - 40%, Practice points - 40%, Non-test grades - 20%.
