Expectations and Policies:

Students will:

•Be respectful at all times regarding other students Use respectful language at all times

• Be on time to class

•Be respectful of others right to work by staying on task-everyone will be working – no loitering/social talking

            •Be respectful of all property in classroom

•Do their OWN work - cheating and plagiarism will not be tolerated and a grade of “F” will be assigned to the assignment– no make-up will be given

•Be prepared for class everyday; assignments done, necessary

  materials in hand, tapes, camera if filming

•Turn in all assigned work completed and on due date - lateness results in

  reduction of points

•Do all assignments on clean notebook paper - no torn out pages, all forms done neatly and ledgible

•Keep all assignments/notes/handouts in notebook

•Remove hats in classroom

•Eat and drink outside the classroom, NO food or drink allowed in video lab at any time

•Infractions of any or all of the above will result in loss of points and or

  referral

Materials required:

•a section in notebook for video material

• video tapes

•a blue or black pen

Attendance:

     To be a successful student it is necessary to attend class on a regular basis; a professional production requires commitment. Broadcast time if missed can not be made up.

Tardy Policy:

1.     If a student is more than 10 minutes late to class, the tardy is considered an absence.  If the tardy is excused, it is an excused absence.  If  the tardy is unexcused, it is an unexcused absence .

2.     For every (3) unexcused tardies in a nine-week period, the student must participate in a limited number of community service projects including:

a.     school grounds maintenance arranged w/ Assistant Principal

b.     attend school’s detention room when available

c.     during weekly activity period w/teacher

3.     Failure to comply with the tardy policy will result in Saturday School.

Make-up Work:

     Regardless of the reason for the absence, it is the student's responsibility to initiate request for make-up work.   Make-up work in this class will be difficult at best – most time will be spent either in production or broadcasting, both of which require daily attendance.

      Majority of this class will be working in groups and members will critique each other on their:  attendance, cooperation, helpfulness, willingness to work, work ethic and quality of work.

 

Grades:  will be based on the following

100 - 86 =  A                      

85 - 76 =  B                               

75 - 66 =  C                               

65 - 50 =  D                              

Assignments graded as follows:

50%classwork/broadcast

30%assignments

20%taping

 

L   = late - lose 5 points per day up to 2 dayslate- 1/2 credit after that - no longer accepted after 2 weeks
