Expectations and Policies:

Students will:

•Be respectful at all times regarding other students abilities; reading,

  comments, questions etc.

•Use respectful language at all times

•Be  respectful of others right to work by staying on task

•Be respectful of all property in classroom

•Do their OWN work - cheating and plagiarism will not be tolerated and a grade of “F” will be

  assigned to the assignment/test – no make-up will be given

•Be prepared for class everyday; assignments/readings done,

  necessary materials in hand

•Turn in all assigned work completed (no incomplete work will be

  accepted) and on due date - lateness results in reduction of points

•Do all assignments in ink or on a word processor on clean

  notebook paper - no torn out pages

•Keep all assignments/notes/handouts in notebook

•Remove hats in classroom

•Eat and drink outside the classroom - water is only acceptable drink

  in classroom

•Infractions of any or all of the above will result in loss of points and

  or referral

Materials required:

•a 3 ring notebook with class dividers

•college rule notebook paper

•a pocket dictionary

•a blue or black pen

Attendance:

    To be a successful student it is necessary to attend class on a regular basis; learning takes place in

        the classroom each day.  Some class activities and/or group work are often not possible to make up. 

Tardy Policy:

1.     If a student is more than 10 minutes late to class, the tardy is considered an absence.  If the tardy is

           excused, it is an excused absence.  If  the tardy is unexcused, it is an unexcused absence.

2.     If a student has three (3) unexcused tardies in a nine-week period, the student must participate in a limited number of community service projects including:

a.  school grounds maintenance arranged w/Assistant Principal

b.     attend school’s detention room when available

c.      during weekly activity period w/teacher

3.     Failure to comply with the tardy policy will result in Saturday School.

Recorrections:

     Most assignments will be able to be recorrected for more credit.  Students will be told which assignments can be redone.

Requirements for Recorrections:

b.     Must be done on a  separate sheet of paper and stapled to original

c.      Need to be turned in the day after answers have been given

d.     Need to be written in complete sentences

e.     All wrong or incomplete answers need to be recorrected

f.      Grading for recorrections:  All F’s and D’s will raise to C,

                                               C’s will raise to B

                                               B’s will raise to A

Make-up Work:

     Regardless of the reason for the absence, it is the student's responsibility to initiate request for make-up work.   The first day back, check: the homework box for any missed assignments, or with a  member of your triad study group, or class notebook for notes or special instructions; if assignment is still unclear, then make an appointment to see me outside of class time.  Students have 2 days to make up missed work for full credit. 

       Any test missed during an absence must be made up within one week of return to school.  Student is responsible for arranging test make up.     

Grades:   will be computed on 60% homework and 40% tests using the

                       following scale:

100 - 90  =  A            

89 - 80   =  B

79 - 70   =  C          

69 - 60  =  D
