BASKETBALL
Class Expectations & General Information
1) Appropriate Dress
- Shoes> No open toed shoes or boots. Athletic shoes only.
- Shirts> Appropriate advertising. Girls> No baggy, revealing shirts.
- May wear shorts or sweats. Please wear athletic style shorts.
- Bring a lock or bag for your clothes. Lock valuables in PE office.
- No hats!!!

2) Hygiene
- Bring deodorant.
- Wear separate clothing.
- Bring your own towel.

3) Expectations
1- On time and prepared.
2- Warm-up
3- Follow daily plan.
4- Attitude and cooperation.
5- Effort and intent to improve.

4) Sport Education
- 2-3 week season with same team.
- Learn all aspects of sport (referee, stats, management).
- You choose team name, uniform and league name.
- Must have a team captain.
- Have a league schedule with big tourney at the end of season.
- Captains run practices. Most will be outlined out for you.
- Duty team responsible for set up, officiating and stats
- Each team will have own notebook (captain and statistician).
- Only as good as you make it!!!

5) Basketballs
- I will bring out leather balls if the classes take care of them. If one is lost or damaged, the old PE balls will be used.

6) NO WHINING!!!

BASKETBALL GRADING POLICY

A) Daily grade
(5 points per day)
1- On time and prepared.
2- Warm-up.
3- Daily lesson responsibilities.
4- Attitude and cooperation.
5- Effort and intent to improve.
* MUST MEET ALL REQUIREMENTS TO GET ANY DAILY CREDIT.
* THIS WILL ACCOUNT FOR 80% OF YOUR FINAL GRADE.
B) Tests
* There will be several test given during the course of the term. Most of the tests will be skill tests. We will also have short written quizzes. There will be a final test given at the end of each quarter.
* THIS WILL ACCOUNT FOR 20% OF YOUR FINAL GRADE.
GRADING SCALE:
A= 90-100%
B= 80-89%
C= 70-79%
D= 60-69%
F= Below 59%
PE MAKE-UPS:
A student who completes a PE make-up will be given 4 points. Any student not dressed properly and/or is late will not be allowed to participate in a PE make-up.
WEEKLY UPDATES:
I will post grades weekly. This will be a computer printout of your percentage. Class time will not be used to discuss grades. You have one week to clear up questions once grades are posted for the week.
