Course Outline: Instruction includes an introduction to health,human sexuality,
safe living, disease prevention,first aid and wellness. The need to achieve
optimal health and wellness through self responsibility, decision making skills,
physical fitness, nutrition, conflict resolution, safe living, and stress management
is emphasized throughout the course.
Class Expectations: It is essential that you are an ACTIVE LEARNER.
Come to class prepared and ready to participate. Bring all necessary supplies
to class each day. Show that you are an accountable, responsible, and involved
learner.
Strive to have fun.
Grading Policy: 90% - 100% = A
80% - 89% = B
70% - 79% = C
60% - 69% = D
Below 60% = F
Class assignments, Participation and Homework accounts for approximately 60% of your total grade. Quizzes and exams are approximately 30% of your Total Grade. And, The remaining 10% of the final grade is based on "Employability- Skills" (on time, at task, cooperative, respectful, and prepared)
Late Work Policy: Assignments will receive a 10% deduction for each day late, up to a 50% deduction. No late assignments will be accepted during the last two weeks of each quarter.
Tardy Policy: Class will begin ON TIME. Students need to be in class and ready to begin. Having to return to your locker to get your book, assignment, or other necessary class supplies will result in a tardy. The School tardy policy is strictly followed.
Attendance: Successful completion of Freshman Health will require your participation and consistent attendance. There is no extension of the late work policy for unexcused absences. However, if you have an excused absence on the day an assignment is given, your due date will be extended by one day. Absences incurred within the duration of a an extended project will not the due date. See me regarding unforeseen events or special circumstances. There is always the possibility of negotiating if you do it in a timely manner.
Quality of Work: Do work you are proud of! All assignments be in blue or black
ink (unle ss otherwise instructed). Writing must be neat and legible. Use a
heading on all assignments and remember to put our name, date and period on
all assignments.
