I. Grading
a. Scale 90%=A 80%=B 70%=C 60%=D

II. Excused absences and make-up work: Lab work will be accepted up to 5 school days or the next activity period, other type of assignments are due before I return the work to the class.

See me if you have a special problem.

Each day work is posted, it is your responsibility to check.

III. Unexcused absences - zero score on that day's work and loss of 5 pts. from participation grade, also credit may be denied on the 6th one - in a lab class participation is a major part of the experience and students need to be in class

IV. Late work not accepted - assignments are due at the start of class

V. Lab time - misuse of materials or horseplay may result in removal from the lab and loss of points from participation grade.

VI. Notebooks - due at test time, no late notebooks accepted. A three ring folder is required, other types will not be graded. The notebook is worth 50 pts. and will be divided into two parts: 1) notes and handouts, kept in order from oldest to newest, 2) all returned papers, no special order needed.

VII. Tardies - you are tardy if you are not in your seat when class is scheduled to begin: 1) you will receive 2 free tardies per quarter, on the 3rd and all subsequent tardies a 5 pts. loss from participation grade will result, 2) a 30 minute detention with me may be done to make-up the tardy, but it must be done within 2 school days, 3) for every 3 tardies an unexcused absence is counted (see student handbook)

VIII. How to succeed in science. Be here everyday, bring all needed materials with you, and make a good effort. It's up to you.
