Physical education develops fundamental motor skills and patterns, physical fitness skills, lifetime individual and group physical activity skills and self-management and social behavior skills.
ATTENDANCE
The attendance policy will be the same as department and school policies regarding admit slips. Students may make up excused absences through PE make-ups. Unexcused absences cannot be made up. Absences involving school activities do not have to be made up and no points are deducted.
DISCIPLINE
GRADING POLICY
The class grading policy will be the same as the P.E. department grading policy and point system. The grade will be based on three major areas.

ATTIRE
Students should wear t-shirts and shorts or sweats. No flannel pants or pajamas. Always wear comfortable gym shoes with a thick rubber sole that will not scuff the hard wood floors. All shoelaces should be tied tight. Failure to adhere to this will count as a non-dress.
NON-DRESSES
Students will receive one grading point deduction for every two non-dresses. In addition, non-dresses will be dealt with as follows:
1 Non Dress = Warning
2 Non Dress = 2nd Warning
3 Non Dress = Referral/Parent Contact
4 Non Dress = Referral-Saturday School
5 Non Dress = Removal from class / Parent Conference
P.E. MAKE-UPS
Make-ups are offered every Tuesday at 7:30 A.M. and 3:30 P.M., and on Wednesdays at 3:30 P.M. Students needing make-ups should meet the instructor in the main gym lobby by the trophy cases. Make-ups are worth one point.
ILLNESS/INJURY
The school nurse must confirm all illness or injuries. The instructor will not accept parent or doctor notes. All such notes must be taken to the school nurse. Students are only excused from participation if they have a note from the school nurse. This policy includes injuries sustained through athletics. If the trainer has treated you, please see the school nurse and explain the injury to her.
