  • A course in literature and composition with emphasis on western culture and its writings. Regular writing instruction and practice will emphasize basic terminology, sentence parts, puncuation and grammer, along with essay writing.

210 - Literature & Composition 11

  • Length of Class: Year
    Prerequisite: Lit/Comp 10 (10H)
    Grade Level(s): 11
  • A survey of American literature, taught in conjunction with writing skills. Students will read poetry, prose and dramas by major American writers and wrte responsively. Improvement in grammar, usage, spelling, punctuation and research skills will also be addressed.

204 - Literature & Composition 9H (Honors)

    Prerequisite: By recommendation only.
    Grade Level(s): 9
  • An advanced course in literature and composition. Content of curriculum is similar to L/C 9, but this course will delve deeper and move at a brisker pace.

    Prerequisite: Lit/Comp 10 or 10H and Teacher Recommendation

  • A survey of major American prose, poetry, and drama from past to present, with an emphasis on literary analysis and analytical writing. For students with proven success in previous language arts classes. Honors credit available.

  • The continued study of literature and composition emphasizing world literature and writing skills. Standard sentence structure, paragraphing, correct spelling, puncuation, capitalization, usage and types of essay writing are studied.

238 - A.P. Literature & Composition

  • Length of Class: Year
    Prerequisite: Teacher Recommendation
    Grade Level(s): 12
  • A college preparatory course combining literature and composition. An in-depth study of poetry, works by Shakespeare, tragedy and comedy and modern literature. Students may receive college credit in literature and composition by successfully completing the A.P. examination at student expense. One-half credit or writing applied graduation requirement is earned by those who complete the course.
